HIFU Facelift
What is HIFU Treatment?
HIFU stands for ‘High Intensity Focused Ultrasound’. This treatment can target various depths of the body’s tissue for skin tightening, skin lifting and body contouring. Entirely non-invasive, HIFU machines work by targeting deep layers in the skin – it boosts new collagen production and collagen regeneration right at the source. It is sometime called the ‘Lunchtime Face Lift’ as the treatment is quick, fairly tolerable and has no downtime.
What is HIFU treatment for face?
HIFU treatment for the face works as a non-invasive facelift. It lifts and tightens the skin, irons out wrinkles and fine lines, shrinks pores, targets the ‘V’ line formation and jowl lines. It also effectively reduces excess fat in areas such as double chin, lower face and neck. HIFU improves overall skin tone, pores, brightness and elasticity.
HIFU is used by top aestheticians & doctors
Many high profile clinics and top aesthetics doctors use a market-leading device called HIFU. This HIFU machine targets the upper dermis 1.5mm, lower dermis 3.00mm and most importantly the SMAS layer at 4.5mm depth. The SMAS is the layer that sits between your muscle and your fat layer.
This SMAS layer is the actual area a plastic surgeon would pull and tighten under a surgical operation using a knife. HIFU targets this layer without any surgical incisions, giving the patient a no-downtime facelift. Which means you can gain excellent results without any risks associated with surgery, such as infection, scarring, swelling etc. Treatments are fast and results can be seen immediately for some patients or within 3 – 6 months, depending on the level of laxity your skin has as well as general skin health.
HIFU treatment is known as the ‘lunch time face lift’ as it’s fairly quick and you can return to work and continue with your day. Some people may have some mild redness and maybe light bruising the next day. With the HIFU machine we can even treat around your eyes, thanks to the slim wand applicator, which allows practitioners to treat your delicate eye area.
Do HIFU Treatments hurt?
The HIFU machine offers faster shot speeds and shorter intervals between each shot, this means it’s fairly comfortable for the patient, in fact far more comfortable and less painful than many other HIFU treatments on the market. Some people describe it as feeling like tiny electric pulses, or a prickly sensation. It’s not pain free but it’s tolerable and it may feel different on different areas of your face or body.
HIFU is also an alternative to a surgical facelift or liposuction, which is likely to hurt far more and require recovery time. Comparatively, HIFU is the much less painful and invasive option.
Is HIFU safe?
There are many HIFU machines on the market and lots of copy cat devices. At best these lower end devices are ineffective and at worst dangerous, this is because the cartridges don’t treat the the depths they claim to. Never purchase a “home use” HIFU device as these are guaranteed to deliver no results and may cause dangerous side effects.
If a medical CE marked device is used however by a trained professional then HIFU is a very safe and effective alternative to surgery.
The treatment tends to work best on people older than 30 with moderate skin laxity. The treatment is unlikely to be effective if your skin has become very lax or “saggy”, though your clinician can give you advice on whether you fall into this category. HIFU is not suitable for people with lesions or severe damage to the treatment area, metallic implants, or severe acne.
How many HIFU treatments will I need?
We usually recommend between 1 – 3 sessions, but this will depend entirely upon several factors such as age, skin health, physical health, diet, lifestyle and other factors.
Clients who generally take good care of their skin and health will enjoy better / longer lasting results than those who don’t. Having frequent or regular aesthetic skin treatments always helps to stimulate the skin’s collagen & elastin production rate pre and post hifu sessions.
Results can last anything from 6 months to 3 years depending on the amount of HIFU treatments performed, lifestyle habits and skincare regimen. Regular collagen stimulating treatments along with healthy lifestyle choices and professional skincare products will always enhance and extend your results of aesthetic procedures.
